U-Ride Campaign




Why?
In the United States, clean drinking water is taken for granted daily. Unclean water kills 5,000 children a day. Add the number of adults, that number jumps to a yearly total of 3.5 million.

RideForWater.org is partnering with Forefront, Aidnow.org, and GVI (Glocal Ventures) to end this in any and every place we can. Right now, Ta Phin, Vietnam has 600+ people with little to no access to clean water. The children only have access at school, most adults have zero access.

This means daily they bathe, cook, drink and eat with water that can lead to all sorts of diseases such as cholera, typhoid and childhood diarrhea, one of the leading causes of death in children. For you and I to hear this, a response is very necessary. 

For $8,000.00 - you and I can provide clean drinking water for these people, FOREVER. Our generosity can be the catalyst that changes the lives of hundreds. It will impact generations to come. It will provide access to filtered, disease-free water at every home in Ta Phin, Vietnam.

How?
The question was asked, “What if social networking could jump out of the ‘online arena’ and into the ‘real world’ to impact people’s lives for the better?” If that happened could we rally 1,000 people to raise $8 each? That’s less than one trip the movies! We totally believe it can happen. 
That’s where you come in.

You will take to the street... without your primary vehicle (your car, suv, truck, etc). Say what?! In Vietnam, cars are for the super rich. Most people walk, ride a bike, or multiple families will “share” a scooter. Your task is to abandon your car for one day, and get people to sponsor you for each mile you travel that day by walking, riding a bike, or scooter. It’s as simple as getting 8 people to give you a dollar. Sound easy enough? Yep. We thought so too.

You complete your day (hopefully getting other friends to join in with you), collect the sponsorships, and with joining 1,000 other individuals- we can provide clean water for the people of Ta Phin, Vietnam.

The Bonus!
You aren’t going to just be a person raising $8.00 and never heard from again. No way, we want you to play a part. Every person who participates will be included in a few different ways to celebrate the water project completion.

1. Your name will be included in a plaque hanging in Ta Phin, Vietnam - for all to see that you were a part of making clean water happen.


2. Each person who participates is asked to film themselves saying their name and the phrase “I gave up a one day of comfort so hundreds could have clean water forever.” You can send it to jason@rideforwater.org and it will be loaded online and shared with the entire village of Ta Phin, Vietnam.


3. You’ll be mentioned by name in a “thank you” post and video at http://rideforwater.org 

 
4. The satisfaction of knowing you did something for hundreds of people who deserve the same things you and I have.
